1. Explore the State Park

South Bass Island State Park offers a wide range of great activities.  First and foremost, the Lake Erie views are astounding.  Further, this park is located on prime lakefront property.

Options include a scenic rocky shoreline beach, playground, volleyball nets, picnic areas and outdoor pavilions.  Also, a fishing pier and boat launch are onsite.

2.Visit a Lighthouse

The South Bass Lighthouse is owned and operated by The Ohio State University.  Guests are welcomed to explore the lovely grounds  Moreover, each season during special dates tours are offered to the public.  Here, guests can traverse the stairs and take in panoramic views of Put in Bay.

3. Walk with the Wildflowers

The Jane Coates Wildflower Trail is a lovely half-mile loop.  Here, visitors can encounter some of the local fauna, and perhaps catch a glimpse of a migratory songbird.  This is a great place to relax and unwind with the Dutchman Breeches.

4. Fish On a Dock on the Bay

The Massie Cliffside Preserve is one of the most spectacular, and perhaps lesser-known parks.  Here, the 11-acre site has been preserved as an homage to the great late Bill Massie.  Now, families will be able to fish from his dock for generations to come.  A very fitting tribute for a man who loved fishing and family.

5. Skip Stones in Lake Erie

The Scheef East Point Nature Preserve offers over 8 acres of pristine Lake Erie Island shoreline.  Here, visitors can enjoy a walking trail, shoreline fishing, and a serene setting.  Oftentimes, migratory birds can often be spotted here.

6. People Watching Paradise

The island of Put-in-Bay has long been a melting pot of fun-loving people.  Hence, there are some exceptional people watching opportunities.  So, just plop down on a bench surrounding the downtown area and before long the magic happens.

7. Visit Perry’s Monument Visitor’s Center and Grounds

Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial is the most striking feature of the island.  The grounds offer lakefront walking paths and ground views of the tower.  However, there is a fee to go to the top.  Still, the Visitor’s Center offers an informative and free insight into Oliver Hazard Perry and his men.

8. Play Like a Kid

 

DeRivera Park is surrounded by the downtown Put-in-Bay area.  Here, guests can enjoy multiple playgrounds, picnic areas, and paved walkways.  Also, a bathhouse provides a comfortable stop for the whole family.

9. See A Ship House

Captain Alfred Parker Park is a Put-in-Bay Township Park.  So, head to the very end of this park, and visitors can see the Benson Ford Ship House.  This home was once a freighter owned by Henry Ford, converted into a home.  However, tours are not available.

10. Set Your Watch to Island Time

The best thing about Put-in-Bay is how it makes you feel: Well, Free!  So, enjoy each moment with those you care about most.  A trip includes so many great things to do in Put in Bay.
