LEIHS Membership Drive
The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2026 with a gift for our current and future members that will elevate the member experience with a major upgrade to the Museum website, leihs.org, devoted to, and accessed only by our members in good standing.
“Members will have direct access to their own page within the secure Membership Section,” said LEIHS President Dustin Heineman. “Maggie Beckford researched software that is compatible with our current website and will provide members personal password access to their own information hub to help us keep our promise of Board transparency.”
The new software, called MembershipWorks, will launch before the Museum’s “Welcome Back Members Potluck & Membership Drive” on June 28th. LEIHS will use our donated monthly column space in the Gazette, and plan an island wide boxholder, to reach as many current and former members and potential members with this information.

The Board also approved new Membership Tiers, including a free Student Membership that does not include voting, two votes for couples in a Family Membership and two votes for couples with a Lifetime Membership.
Board Member Betsy McCann researched a reciprocal membership entity called the North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association® that we have added to member benefits for those paying $100 or more for their membership. NARM sets the required minimum membership cost. Their website is narmassociation.org.
Each member will have their own page within the secure MembershipWorks module. These pages appear on leihs.org but they are hosted on multiple secure servers around the world.

The Membership Page on leihs.org will have a list of the new membership tiers with a description and cost. You’ll be able to pay your membership online. Depending on your membership, your page will have one or two spaces for your email address, full names, mailing address, etc. and this will also allow members to cast a ballot from their page.
You’ll find your copy of the Historical Journal Newsletter here, Board Minutes, and special notices that will no longer be available to the general public You’ll be able to renew your membership, make a Memorial or other Donation, purchase a Legacy Brick, view a Calendar of Events and make early reservations for Museum events and programs, and purchase tickets if required.
MembershipWorks also has other abilities such as sending renewal notices, a Volunteer Board, integrated advertising, classified ads and more (See ad on Page 7).
