Garden Club News: From Sheri Murphy, President
Hello to all the permanent, seasonal and occasional residents of PIB! I hope everyone has weathered all the winter punches Mother Nature has thrown at us. And I cannot wait to hear how many fish were caught with the superb ice fishing opportunities that were had, exaggerations and all! The ice gods certainly listened to our pleas this year!
Well, it may not be anything close to warm weather yet, but the Garden Club is warming up and planning for another busy season ahead, full of workshops, presentations and off-island opportunities. We are only in March, but I am going to jump in here as it’s never too early to ask for volunteers for one of the club’s most important ongoing duties. The first project by the club in the spring is planting and hanging the downtown flower baskets. Pretty as they are when hung, the baskets remain only as pretty as the care they receive. Watering is SO important during our hot summer months and I would ask you to please consider offering a bit of your time in assisting with this. (You do not have to be a member either!) Even if it’s only once or twice a month, your efforts would go a long way in maintaining the healthy blooms we all enjoy. Please give it some thought and let me know if you (and a friend?) would like a reason to get out of the house and enjoy the beauty of our downtown – we need you!
