The Put-in-Bay Post Office is the island’s lifeline to the mainland and a central meeting spot for locals. Everyone on the island has a post office box instead of a mailbox at home. The population is so tiny, this just makes sense. So locals often plan to meet up with friends at the same time to chat and share some island gossip.
Put-in-Bay Post Office Location
The Post Office is located on one of the busiest roads in town. Langram Road is a heavily trafficked thoroughfare that connects Lighthouse Point and the Lime Kiln Dock to the downtown. The Post Office sits in between the gas station and hardware store. Get all your errands down in one fell swoop.
The Shops at Compass Pointe are also right next door. Besides the hardware store, this lovely little complex includes the 421 Dock boutique as well as Home Post, an excellent home goods store.
The mail arrives every day in the summer via the Miller Ferry. Once ferry service ends to the island in the winter, small planes deliver to the island. Despite being a bit out of the way, Put-in-Bay gets mail delivered and picked up every day, except Sundays of course. The lobby is always opened so locals can access their boxes anytime they need.
It offers all the same services as a regular post office. Priority Mail, Post Parcel, Priority Mail Express, and general delivery is available. They also have stamps, packing supplies, and greeting cards for purchase.
Buy a postcard from one of the many stores on Put-in-Bay. You can find them virtually anywhere from Bayview Gifts to the Put-in-Bay T-Shirt Shop. Mail it from the Post Office, where you can also buy stamps. Tell friends and family on the mainland a ferry had to pick it up before it goes to them. It’s the Put-in-Bay way!
