Mass Casualty Drill
On Saturday, March 16th, there was a mock MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) for the students taking the EMT class this winter on the island. They arrived at the state park to find the campsites littered with 15 victims of an explosion. They triaged, treated and transported them, using the skills they learned over the past four months. They went home exhausted, but excited.
Thanks to the volunteers who played the victims,Sally Zehe, Lisa Slodov, Cindy Fregeolle, Ashley Mann, Kelly Mohn, Dallas Mohn, Jessica Mohn, Keara Stan, Colleen White, Patricia Fisher, Andy Burns, Mimi Georgieva, Silviya Borisova, Jason Russell and Maddie Hart. They were amazing actors and really kept the students on their toes!
Thanks also goes to: Nick Pettenski for bringing the MCI trailer and helping move patients; Nate Jones for bringing the fire truck, patient care and mentoring; Deputy Gary Allred and Officer Oli Uthumalebbe for patient lifting and moving; Bree Reynolds and Natalie Kowalka, proctors and mentors; Dawn Long, official photographer; and Mike Pucak for allowing us to use the park.
Thank you all for everything you contributed. This was a great learning experience for the class and we can’t begin to express our gratitude!
Members of the EMT class are Ben Jones, Megan Beckwith, JR Domer, Jo Jo Cendrosky, Tori Perez and Zach Hiss, plus Krissy Hart and Olive Scherf from Middle Bass.
