The “Key West of The North” has long been a place for the family fun-seekers and weekend warriors to enjoy South Bass Island.  Over time the island evolved into what is now one of the best vacation destinations in the whole Midwest. Because Put-in-Bay Ohio is near cities like Cleveland, Toledo, Sandusky and Catawba, hundreds of thousands of visitors come each year from all over the United States.

The island offers a variety of cheap hotels, rental homes, harbor view suites, the Park Hotel, and even luxurious waterfront condos. If you are on a serious budget, there is also the South Bass Island State Park. We have made a list of some of the other best hotels in Put-in-Bay Ohio.

Bird’s Nest Resort

The Bird’s Nest Resort is located near the Put-in-Bay airport and is just a short drive away from downtown Put-in-Bay. These simple, affordable rental cottages have been around for many years.  The Birds Nest is the perfect laid-back lodging destination on Put-in-Bay for an affordable price. The nine-acre property has long been one of Put-in-bay Island’s go-to hotel/resorts. Here is a breakdown of the rooms available: 2 Three bedroom cottages, 3 Two-bedroom cottages, 8 Double motel rooms, 2 Double kitchenette rooms, and 8 King motel rooms.  Full kitchen in some units. The Bird’s Nest offers its guests a quiet and relaxing island getaway.

Put-in-Bay Resort & Conference Center

Located a short walk away from downtown Put-in-Bay, the Put-in-Bay Resort & Conference Center is home to a Bar and restaurant.  Although there are better options when staying in a hotel on Put-in-Bay, we wanted you to know the Put-in-Bay resort is an option. They have jacuzzi rooms, pool view rooms, Put-in-Bay villas, and more. But no lakeside views. Guests come from Detroit, Cleveland, and beyond. Nearby attractions include Adventure Bay, The Sand Bar, Perry’s Victory, and International Peace Memorial, and the Round House Bar. The hotel does have a small meeting room available upon request for business meetings, weddings, bachelorette parties and etc…

BayShore Resort

The Bay Shore Resort is exactly what it reads. A resort on the bay shore! The PIB Bay Shore is the only lakefront hotel on the island besides the Put-in-Bay condos. Guest rooms face the swimming pools with a view of the Lake Erie Islands and the Bay Shore tiki bar onsite.  You can see Kelley’s Island, Cedar Point, mainland Ohio and other Lake Erie islands from their balconies. It is also the perfect location to watch the sunrise if any early birds are interested.  The hotel is within walking distance of Put-in-Bay attractions like Perry’s Monument, The Candy Bar, and more.  Their lake view rooms have long been a great place to stay on your Put-in-Bay vacation.

Islander Inn

The Islander Inn is another Put-in-Bay hotel that is located near the downtown action and SPLASH Swim-Up Bar. The property features 100 rooms, 4 swimming pools, and 2 bars. Once here, guests love to lay poolside under the palm trees.  The property also offers golf cart rentals onsite only to guests staying at the property to ensure the golf carts stay in good condition. Caribbean vibes are the main theme of the hotel. In fact, there are live palm trees in the pool areas! The Islander Inn had recently performed renovations on their 100 rooms to maintain their great property.

Bay Lodging Resort

Bay Lodging Resort is an Ohio State Buckeye-themed hotel situated about half a mile from the downtown area.  Guests here enjoy relaxing poolside and a cold drink of choice at the buckeye tiki bar. Golf cart rentals are available to guests upon request. Guests are about a 15-minute walk to one of the best bars on Put-in-Bay: Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grille. Amenities include an indoor/outdoor pool, free wifi, continental breakfast, and a 24-hour front desk service.

Grand Islander Hotel

The Grand Islander Hotel consists of 50 hotel rooms ranging in size located next to Level 2 nightclub and the Island General Store. They also have the Niagara Event Center which is the perfect place to conduct business and other gatherings in the island’s only official conference center.  There are a plethora of bars and restaurants nearby for guests to enjoy. In addition, guests will also be granted free access to SPLASH Swim-up bar which is considered to be the World’s largest swim-up bar! The Grand Islander is also located right next to Level 2, the island’s only nightclub. Those seeking to immerse themselves in the Put-in-Bay nightlife can do just that when they stay at the Grand Islander Hotel.

Edgewater Hotel

The Edgewater Hotel is located right next to Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grille. Guests can enjoy golf cart rentals nearby at the Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Depot located near the Victory Station Hotel.  Rooms feature 27″ inch TVs and amenities like small refrigerators. The Edgewater Hotel is just across the street from DeRivera Park and the Put-in-Bay harbor. Guests can check in at the front desk located on Delaware Avenue.
