If you have a fond appreciation for historic estates, look no further. Stonehenge Historic Estate is one of the hidden gems of Put-in-Bay. Take a break from downtown attractions and walk back in time on 6 acres of history. With all the lush trees and foliage this ranks at the top for being one of the most peaceful locations on the island. Walk the grounds of this estate and reflect on all of the footsteps that have shared the same paths and what it must have been like to be one of the first settlers on Put-in-Bay. Buildings date back as far as the 1800s and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

If you’re staying downtown, you’ll find Stonehenge Historic Estate is only half-mile away. Take a relaxing bicycle or golf cart ride to the estate and appreciate all the beauty Put-in-Bay has to offer. There are also self-guided tours of the old house, wine cellars, and quaint houses and buildings all throughout the estate. You can even explore an old wine press while you’re there.

Don’t forget your camera, because this will be one of the most picturesque places to capture some great shots from your trip to Put-in-Bay. With that said, make sure to stop by the Stonehenge Historic Estate gift shop on your way out. This gift shop was actually an old wine cellar. It is now loaded with a variety of antiques and unique gifts to choose from.

Testimonials

Sherry H: “We found Stonehenge to be a nice change of pace from all the chaos uptown. The relaxing wooded trail that leads to the entrance made us feel like we were stepping back in time to what island life used to be. The gift shop was phenomenal! We also liked the self-guided audio tour because we could wander at our own pace with just our family…no pre-scheduled tour with a big group. Nice. The staff was pleasant and very knowledgeable about other island histories.”

Jim C: “This visit was very nice. The tour is self-guided, and we used headphones for information, that you could shut off and look more if wanted before moving on. The grounds were well kept, and beautiful. It was updated with some new modern items in the house which I was surprised to see in there.”

Cecilia B: “Love visiting here, although not always open at the time. Great walking outside, discovering grounds. Very interesting history. We really missed seeing it last year, as it was closed for renovations.”
