The Annual Pig Roast to benefit the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center is one of the tastiest events of the year on the Put-in-Bay calendar. In true island style, there will be a spit roast hog for everyone to enjoy. There will also be incredible Put-in-Bay themed prizes to win in a silent auction. Some of the experiences on offer in the auction include a Rattlesnake Island outing for two, passes for the Miller Ferry, a succulent 5-course dinner from a Put-in-Bay restaurant for 8, beautiful island original art work, a trip to North Bass Island for two to tag Monarch Butterflies, and gorgeous handcrafted creations from Jessie’s Jewelry. As always, we thank those who so generously donate prizes for great causes like this. It’s a testament to the bond amongst islanders!
Pre-sale tickets for the Annual Pig Roast will be available until the day of the event for $15. The day of the event the price will increase to $20. So grab your tickets in advance, especially if you are bringing a group! All proceeds will benefit the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center, specifically the Building Addition Fund to increase the available space for the center. This event is also part of Green Week, a week of activities involving the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center and their efforts to highlight the natural wonders of the Lake Erie Islands.
If you were lucky enough to get to last year’s Pig Roast for the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center, you certainly had a great time thanks to the hard work and passion of the volunteers who worked the event. Goat Soup and Whiskey hosted the event last year, as they do every year. The desserts were provided by Amy Huston, water was donated by Pepsi, and the Put-in-Bay Fire Department was to thank for the tables. Ray Fogg and Drew LaPlante entertained the guests, and it was a fantastic time!
